Mirpur University celebrates 77th Independence Day with traditional Zeal & Patriotic Spirit

Prof. Dr. Anwar Khitab, Dean Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences (FH&MS) of Mirpur University of Science and Technology MUST, Mirpur AJ&K graced 77th Independence Day celebrations as the Chief Guest. The flag hoisting ceremony was held at 0955 hrs at the City Campus of the University on Wednesday, August 14th, 2024. Prof. Dr. Anwar Khitab, along with Prof. Dr. Tahseen Ghous, Dean Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities (FSS&H) and Dr. Muhammad Altaf, Director Students Affairs hoisted National, State & University. Dr. Sara Shah, Coordinator Department of Education, Dr. Sehrish Shafi, Coordinator, Department of English, Dr. Asghar Ali Khan, Director, Institute of Islamic Studies,
Mr. Irfan Hameed, Director Works, Maj (R) Muhammad Jangir, Chief Security Officer, Mr. Muhammad Ayub, Director Estate Management, Mr. Abid Hussain, Director Sports, Faculty Members, Administrative Staff and Students participated in the ceremony.

Ms. Nasreen Tariq, Coordinator, Department of Home Economics, Ms. Rahat Sharif, Assistant Professor, Department of Home Economics along with Students of Hult Prize MUST, Paradigm Society MUST and Children delivered speeches highlighting the importance of Independence Day & emphasised the need to revive the spirit that fueled the Independence movement. University students accompanied by children of various age groups displayed performances in celebration of Independence Day.

The Chief Guest of the 77th Independence Day, Prof. Dr. Anwar Khitab, Dean of the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences (FH&MS), expressed his thoughts on the significance of 14th August. He stated that this glorious occasion is a moment to reaffirm our commitment to pursuing the vision of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, this day holds special significance in our hearts as it marks the culmination of an unprecedented freedom struggle that led to the establishment of the State of Pakistan. The day serves as a reminder of the responsibilities we bear, not only as members of this esteemed institution but also as citizens of our great nation, he added.

Prof. Dr. Anwar Khitab commended Department of Home Economics, Directorate of Students Affairs, Hult Prize MUST & Paradigm Society MUST for their efforts in organising and conducting the Independence Day event. The event concluded with special prayers for the well-being & prosperity of the people of Pakistan, the freedom movement of the oppressed people of Indian Occupied Kashmir, Muslim Ummah & return of peace and prosperity to Palestine.
